Update 29th Sep 2002 - Version 3.2

Version numbers arent only increasing by 0.1. The higher the increase the more the change. Last time we went to version 2.3. This time we up to 3.0 It indicates how much has changed or how much work went in..
The news below, does no longer elaborate below like before, but the links simply take you straight there, so you might want to come back here to check next in the list.

I've found it's much more work if you leave it for several months, but those have been my circumstances. Expect a monthly update again now, as well as direct updates of links or for sale items

Daily-(New) Latest "during the month" updates displayed on a simple page, like items for sale, new links, Items sold, or anything else updated during the month now has a separate link off the main menu.NOTE this page now always preceeds this page as a separate fast loading page, showing only the latest.
Sparepart Noticeboard-(New) Latest News & gossip fr Sparepart delers, clubs and individuals
Knowledge Base Updates from great contributions during May-Sept 2002 read it all!
Action on Buy and Sell New items and sold items?
Brochures This has changed, some new, but also, we're putting all articles, fact sheets, road tests and brochures under a new heading off PIT.
E-mail Feedback up to date Massive update, put your feet up this is a feast. Much will/has be (been) extracted to knowledge base.
New Links Keep an eye on new links as we put them up

Ahead I will aim for:

  1. Add a more articles and direct references to books and web resources (under Interceptor Chronicles).
  2. Much more updates to the Knowledge Base (NB the latest additions or headings added to will be prefixed by an asterisk in main headings and down to sub headings so you can spot them easy). Supporting discussions to the conclusions drawn in the Knowledgebase to be accessable separately, through a link.
  3. An upgrade to the Feedback page to ensure we can provide better stats and service, still overdue
  4. Analysis of activities and page use to improve navigation on page (see next)

I will reorganise the site a bit. I suspect the PIT button, HELLO, ART and LINKS are the ones mainly used. Also, there are items on the PIT page, that could go onto a separate menu. We'll review options for faster access to some key items like the buy and sell, knowledge base, road test,

Version 2.0 upgrade (1 st Nov)

Interceptor Hotline Discussion Group

Welcome to join a discussion group and noticeboard for Royal Enfield Interceptor Owners that has been created on Yahoo, it gets us good search engine ratings in the long run. Our own commercial free version should arrive around Christmas - New Year, unless we really take a liking to the Tahoo one. Check it out and drop in some feedback about it through the Hello feedback. By the way, for joining groups like this, you might be reluctant to use your e-mail. If you are concerned, set up a hotmail account for the purpose, until you're comfortable with it.

The Interceptor World Map.

(Pit) We now have a world map showing where the interceptors are. Well as reported to our owners page anyway, by the owners directly, not just by something someone has heard, read or seen. Lets start getting the numbers up there.

Fun.

Another addition to the games site, a nostalgic addition of the old windows Minefield game, for those who no longer have access to it, or for non windows computers. Not that I think us bikes would be interested, but maybe the kids, eh!

Privacy.

Christmas is upon us and you can bet you're gonna get these viral chain e-mails. We suggest that you never respond to e-mails about 'mailing all your friends', not for greatings, jokes, virus "warnings" and especially not for appeals, no matter how worthy a cause. Read in our privacy statement about how your e-mail and feedback details are protected, when corresponding with this site.

Diamond offer.

Here's a Gem if you run a business, don't have much time to muck around with computers and just want to get a single page with a picture and some details (like the yellow pages but constantly up to date, world wide and basically free). After the free web page and the first free month, if you like it and want to continue, there will be a small charge around US$3/month just to cover costs.

Rolls Royce on Two Wheels.

i.e The Interceptor Sales Brochure.
Sent here by (snail) mail from Frank in Holland, translated from Swedish by Kickan, it's the sales brochure from the main Interceptor dealer of the 60's in Sweden. The same dealer I bought my first Interceptor from. Nice piece of nostalgia.

Workshop Manual.

The HTML version of this is getting more pages. We will publish early December.

Regular monthly updates.

The sitemap has changed to reflect the new pages. We also have regular monthly updates on: Photos, e-mails and member stories. Check the e-mail about question on red painted strip on tank. Someone else wan'ts to buy a tank in good quality. You should also keep an eye on the links as well which we'll add to and change so they stay relevant and active. Last I searched on Royal Enfield Interceptor, we were number 2 in the result list.

Plans for Christmas.

I'll work on the bulletin board, where you can stick your own messages up with questions, answers. More workshop manual and articles. Hoping for more input from you guys! experiences, tricks and tips, compatible parts from other brands that fit the RE. Things you have for sale, etc. I have received a letter from one of the interceptor designers in England, and will publish some of this, maybe by early December.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Version 2.0 Major release. That's as at start November!

Plans for Christmas.

A bulletin board where you can stick your own messages up, questions, answers, a world map, where we'll start setting flags and numbers of Interceptor Owners. This could be the first step towards identifying where we could have a future Rally, let's get the numbers up.
More workshop manual and articles. Hoping for more input from you guys! experiences, tricks and tips, compatible parts from other brands that fit the RE. Things you have for sale. I've tracked down a couple of people who worked at the factory. One through the Authorities in Redditch Hoping to have many new interesting Interceptor facts and stories from such contacts.

Version 2. of November 4th is a major general upgrade.

  • Site map for quick overview of what's on the site
  • New complete set with exploded views, fast loading, click on bike to pick it apart or use alphabetic index for exploded views. Every page of the Exploded pages form the Spare part manual is there, in low resolution, fast loading pictures.
  • Cock pit page with Technical specification, plus if you prefer a list of tehnical specification.
  • More pages in workshop manual.(Now no longer as pdf, loads faster, one picture poor, will soon be replaced.)
  • Jokes stay the same except the odd new one.
  • More links
  • On owners stories (You are not alone) a summary from emails, gossip and what's happened.
  • Web site now stacked for submission to search engines, but you will already find it directly as forth item on a search for Royal Enfield Interceptor. We are getting linked in to other Motorcycle sites as well.
  • The first page will be tuned for faster loading by mid Novmber.
  • Site has been rated for content, (safe for kids and at work etc.) by ICRA
  • The Art page has more photos. These might get tuned even more, for faster loading also later in November, although it's pretty fast already.
  • Hello page touch up in content and layout.

Update 1 October 2001

Version 1.

Version 1 replaces the preliminary start page we had. These very news lines will be pushed down, as more fresh news items appear. Then an index will allow you to look at old news items. The same thing with the web pages. If there were information or photos that we later remove, we will have an archive link so you can still get to them.

The Features.

  • Start: States the purpose of web site and tips. Mainly for first timers.

  • News: with a date lists most recent change in a paragraph, does not include correspondence.

  • Art: is the art gallery. Photos, Badges and possibly of paintings. Please contribute, top class photos, only. Best to send photo by mail.. See instructions at "Hello".

  • Links: Very best and relevant links only. Find the rest on the search engines. Note, under "Thanks" we might have other links as well.

  • Hello: is a feedback page. Please only use THIS when you send e-mails. It's Server based e-mail and should work on all types of browsers. Tell us if you have any problems with the page. Note. The State, e-mail, country details, etc are there so we can see where and when we might arrange for RE Interceptor Rally (Oh Dream). Future versions will have a full fledged Visitors Book plus also a Buy and Sell Facility where you can post items yourself!

  • Pit: is the Pit stop. Technical Articles, Ride tests, Interceptor History, Workshop Manual, Specifications, Tech Tips, Exploded views of the Interceptor, even hear the roaring sound of one.

  • Fun: is to collect little amusing cartons, jokes, fun experiences of yours. Enjoy a British traditional Dart Game, yea, playing it. Or calculate when you'd be sober to ride again. Something to keep you amused with from time to time.

  • Thanks: Has the thanks to people and companies and organisations who have helped significantly making the page and will continue to make it what it is. Check it out. By mentioning the web page some of those people might get you a discount on similar services to you. They'll also think higher of the web site and help out more.

  • What's Next!.

The months ahead you will see, fine tuning and more content in workshop manual etc.

  • Trading place: Firstly static but only if you feedback content, like what you have for sale or want to buy. Eventually you will be able to add entries directly yourself.

  • Pit: More tech tips and input from other owners out there. Workshop manual, more content and exploded views.

  • Fun: More jokes and animated Royal things you can download.

  • Other: A world map where we will start collecting info about where the most Interceptors are located. You must help out here, spread the word. Only numbers we can verify (with each owner) will be counted. This might be the start to get support for having a Concourse DeElegance on Interceptors with Rally and Party! Version 2 of the web page will be more slick and efficient as well.

  • Future: By Version 3 we should have Chat rooms and Videos as well.
So Stay Tuned and keep in touch. ---"Royal"
