The price does vary a lot depending on location and condition. I pulled some info off of a U.S. auction site about a year ago for a few Series 2 (69 and 70) Interceptors. Two in "excellent" condition went for US$5200 and 5900. One in "very good" condition sold for US$4200. One in "fair" condition sold for US$3,000.

I once saw one advertised for US$12,000. My guess would be he never found a buyer.

I picked one up myself a few years ago for just US$1,000, but it wasn't running though the owner claimed it would run (which turned out to be true). It did turn over. It had a few non-original parts such as exhaust pipes and headlight, but it came with some brand new and correct parts he'd purchased but never installed including exhaust pipes and clutch hub. The tank had been painted too, had several small dents, and would have to be chromed to be restored to original. It was also full of rust. Fixing a tank in bad shape like this one can be fairly expensive. My guess is that that would be about the cheapest price you'd see for one. This was in Canada, where prices for British bikes tend to be lower than elsewhere judging from what I see in magazine and other ads.

I'm always suspicious of bikes that have been stored and not ridden in a long time. Rarely have they been stored properly, so there can be lots of corrosion inside the engine. The best bikes are almost those that have been ridden regularly by a conscientious owner. Therefore, unless you go to the trouble of restoring the bike, which will be more expensive than it's worth if you just want to sell it, the value of it will likely be lower than one that gets ridden all the time.

If your uncle doesn't want to ride or restore it himself, he'll be doing the restoration community a big favour by selling it. We all love to see these bikes on the road again and not sitting in a shed.

The sell price for an Interceptor depends on many things.
a) Interceptor Series I or II, if your unsure have a look at the web site www.ozemate.com/interceptor
b) Year of manufacture.
c) Extent of deterioration, untouched in a garaged but not properly "moth-balled", chrome, vinyl, paintwork and worse, engine parts could still take a beating, and your sell price could vary by around 40%
d) Location where it's sold. On this point your best bet are the local dealers in classic English bikes and parts as well as Classic Bike Clubs in your country.

To sell or buy outside your own country:
On point d) you would have to investigate across the planet if you intend to sell it on the web site www.ozemate.com/interceptor or on an internet auction. A good start would be by contacting in turn each of the appropriate links on our web site. Once you know how much it would be worth in South Africa, Canada, Australia, UK, Netherlands, USA, Denmark, Sweden ( to take a representatible average), you would take a typical average.

From this you need to consider taking off an average freight cost and possibly export costs. For instance, after migrating and having lived in Australia for 15 years we finally brought Two Interceptors here from Sweden that we had owned for over 20 years. We still had to pay Australian Sales tax (on estimated value) of over 20% as well as customs, quarantee and freight, when bringing them in!!

Sorry for the complicated answer, but the Question is a bit open. After all that, I have seen Interceptor series II in perfect condition on sale from time to time here in Australia at around US $5-6000, which is probably the asking price we woiuld have for any of ours you could see on the web page, but only IF we had to sell.

For us it would be like selling the family Jewels. In absolute new condition, spotless, I think there are places and eager buyers that would pay twice the amount. Other Interceptor Owners could probably give you more likely values in other countries, so watch this area.

This Bike is a so called Clymer Enfield Indian. Anders spotted it for sale.
Us Interceptor owners mainly see the Interceptor Engine and then, well.
In any case, when you see prices like these, ask yourself, are you looking after your classic Interceptor enough.
